Amanda Brugel

Pointe Claire (February 27, 2010 - Toronto ON). Pointe Claire is an unassuming town situated on the West Island, which is an island in Montreal. Many people who don't know they mistakenly believe they are on the West Island extends westward from Montreal. Actually it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there, but her time was not long in the city. Brugel became an aspiring young lady living in Courtice Ontario, outside Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to be an actor, but after a sudden expansion, she and her partner could no longer dance with her. In an interview with Toronto Star, she confessed that "In heels I'm 6 feet and 1 inch." After I surpassed my male counterparts at that point, I gave up. There are many dancers who make the move to acting. As for the Brugel family, it was their drama teacher who nudged her in that direction. The teacher recommended that she try out for a school production. The school's production was a success and she was selected to play the principal part for Anne of Green Gables after she tried out. It led to a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. For the past twenty years, her roles in the world of television and on the screen have been varied. The character of Rita from the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale was her most notable. Brugel was the sole Canadian on the Season 1 cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
